Buy Salvage Car - Buyer Beware
Beware of Hidden Damage
A quick few thoughts for you about buying a salvage car (or buying your first salvage car ).
I am living testimony. I bought a salvage vehicle a couple years ago. This salvage car deal was just too smooth. The price was right, the car was right, the experience was right.
I don’t know if I am in the minority with buying a salvage car, but my deal was great.
Some time after car acquisition, I needed an alignment. The folks at the tire store told me that the frame was bent and that I needed to take the car to a body shop. I got a quick idea of the cost and was floored.
Luckily, my neighbor used to own a tire store. I had him take it in for a "real" look. They easily aligned it. No problem and certainly no problem with my purchace (and great price).
I guess my point in this is:::
1 - Know who you are dealing with.
2 - Have them tell you exactly what the scope of the salvage car rationale was.
3 - Have faith that the honest dealers/brokers are in business for a reason.
