| Madison County Mini Chopper Basics
A mini chopper is essentially a miniature "chopper": Smaller, lighter, less power. They have an average height of 18 inches and their weights fall between 45 to 100 pounds. Similar to their full blooded hog brothers, they do require general maintenance periodically.
The power plants for these mini choppers will get them up to about 40 miles per hour. These engines will be either two stroke or four stroke. The majority come with the four stroke engine. To me, these sound better and not like a chain saw. However, the two stoke engines won\'t overheat as quickly, have fewer moving parts, and have greater low end torque.
The laws for operation of mini choppers/scooters vary state to state. Engine size, maximum speed, etc. play a factor in a lot of the states laws. States will normally also put a restriction on the age of the operator along with licensing requirements if they are operated on public roads (assuming the mini chopper has the necessary equipment).
Mini choppers are a real hoot to ride. The lower weight and shorter wheelbase compared with full sized bikes allow quicker turn and much better maneuverability. REMEMBER to wear protective clothing! |
