Sam, the Shams, and the Shepherd King tells the story of the birth and life of Samuel culminating with him anointing young David to be King. This muscial was written seeking to be faithful to the Biblical story (1 Samuel 1-4, 8,16) and fun for the children to learn.

The "red thread" running through Sam is how God continues to use children to accomplish God's gracious purposes. There are solo singing parts for girls and boys and significant speaking roles that do not require a singing voice.

Gospel writer Luke preserved for us the two most memorable parables Jesus told: the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-31). In them we learn how we are to treat others and how God treats us.

"Good Sam and the Bad Boys" is an attempt to indelibly imprint these stories upon the minds of children. We are convinced the best way to do this is to have them teach these stories to others by songs and words.
